Module Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module, students will be able to:

  1. LO1. Develop and discuss the main areas of energy policy.
  2. LO2. Understand requirements for LEED/Zero Energy and Net Passive buildings.
  3. LO3. Evaluate energy projects using economic analysis tools.
  4. LO4. Compare and evaluate various energy storage technologies in terms of their strengths, limitations, and cost-effectiveness for different energy systems and applications.
  5. LO5. Design energy storage systems to support grid stability, integrate renewable energy sources, and optimize energy dispatch and management.
  6. LO6. Evaluate the environmental sustainability of energy storage technologies, considering factors like resource utilization, emissions, and end-of-life management.

Module Content

  • This module is an optional module which runs in the first semester. The module will develop knowledge in current energy policy and our energy storage options. It will include topics in energy economics, policy, energy storage options and circular economy and sustainability in storage systems will be addressed.
