Trinity Biodiversity Audit – Internship

We seek an enthusiastic intern to work on developing the Trinity Biodiversity Audit. This project will assess the biodiversity of Trinity’s estate, providing a baseline for monitoring change, and for informing management. The project is being led by Jane Stout, Professor in Botany, School of Natural Sciences, and is coordinated by Dr Ursula King, in collaboration with Estates and Facilities, Trinity’s Sustainability Intern, and the Green Campus Biodiversity Subcommittee.

We are seeking an enthusiastic student to work with the Biodiversity Audit team to develop a data platform and online interface for the project. The internship is available from June 2021, and a stipend of €1000 is available for the successful applicant.

Key skills required:

• Basic programming experience (R / Python) and GIS skills (ArcGIS or similar)
• Good understanding of Data and Database Management for OLE DB or similar DB
programmes.
• Familiarity with creating web interfaces
• Interest and knowledge of biodiversity issues
• Self-motivation and the ability to work in a team
• Organisation and attention to detail in handling data
• Written communication to help develop protocols for future users
