The submissions for the Suas Trinity are now open! The deadline for submissions is Week 9 and the theme for this issue is digital violence against women, particularly in relation to how this has increased dramatically because of the constant lockdowns. We are taking both visual and written submissions (visual can be any media so long as it can be submitted digitally, and written submissions should be around 1000 words) and any queries or submissions should be sent to fmoreau@tcd.ie or stalhutc@tcd.ie. The following prompts are available, but your own titles are welcome:
How continuous lockdown has prompted women to turn to online sex work
Sex and the Pandemic: the dangers of encouraging digital sex as an alternative to physical intimacy
Language around Digital Violence: examining problematic terms such as “revenge porn” and the repercussions they have on how we discuss digital and sexual violence.
How poor sex education in primary and secondary schools in Ireland has contributed to phenomena such as the OnlyFans discord leaks.
Lack of Consent is a Kink: how the phenomnon of digital violence against women is rooted in patriarchal structures, language and power struggles.
Digital legislation in Ireland: despite the fact Ireland is the European hub for big tech companies, the lack of steps taken for online digital safety is shocking. An exploration of how activists are campaigning to change this.
Steps that can be taken to make online spaces safer: perhaps positing the idea of a creation of an online platform as a safe sexual space.
We look forward to seeing your submissions!
