All teaching in the School of Computer Science and Statistics will take place online for the duration of Semester 2. This includes lectures, tutorials, labs and all other teaching activities and assessments. All computer labs in the School of Computer Science and Statistics remain closed until further notice but at least for the duration of Level 5 public health measures.
It is important to note that this information only applies to SCSS modules. Those of you taking modules in other Schools should refer to the email from College and to the information provided by those schools.
Everyone in SCSS shares the disappointment of our students that we won’t be able to resume teaching on campus this semester. We are fortunate in Computer Science and Statistics that the bulk of our teaching, including our labs, can take place very effectively online and that we have been able to deliver every module in our curriculum. Unfortunately, however, it is much harder to replace the in-person, social interactions that are part of normal College life. We hope that students will continue to find ways to interact socially with their peers and support each other as a community. The School can support initiatives to help with this and students should contact their Course Director or Director of Teaching and Learning to discuss ways we can help.
Students will not need to physically attend Trinity in Semester 2 for any SCSS module.
Final Year Projects and Dissertations
If you are in your final year and are undertaking a project that requires access to physical equipment held on campus, you should make contact with your project supervisor to discuss this. Otherwise, your supervisor will continue to meet with you online, as usual.
If you require access to the Library, you should refer to the latest information on the Library website (https://www.tcd.ie/library/).
These remain very challenging and unusual times. There are many support services available to students , including your personal Tutor or the Senior Tutor’s Office, Student Counselling, the College Health Service and the Trinity Disability Service. You can find a list of student supports on our Teaching and Learning website (https://teaching.scss.tcd.ie/student-supports/).
